The arborvitae is one of the most popular of all trees for windbreaks and year around privacy.

In our area a dense arborvitae hedge can act as a windbreak from Gorge winds, helping to keep down home heating costs in the winter. It is also a great "green screen" for blocking out the view of cars on a busy road and for generally screening out both undesirable sights and sounds.

Arborvitae is also a good choice to provide a background for flowering plants, ponds and garden art. It may be sheared and shaped to fit into most every landscaping need. Here, Pyramidal arborvitae are staggered to make an effective screen and to help accent a pink dogwood tree, daphne and a groundcover.

You’ll probably find that birds also enjoy your arborvitae as nest locations and protection from winter weather.
